Welcome!

The journey of emotional and spiritual growth in the face of physical deterioration is filled with many roads which are complete with hills, valleys, curves, and straight away thrills. These roads lead us through a myriad battles, and the basic philosophy promoted here is to celebrate victories and sorrowfully appreciate defeats for the lessons they offer us. Please enjoy this site and help to encourage healthy coping amongst those who battle ill health through your thoughtful comments.

Budgeting energy in the face of chronic illness is best described by Christine Miserandina in her essay, The Spoon Theory. Here's a video which shows what my room looks like when I start to run out of spoons!

    My Dear Susan,
I am thinking of you and your daughter EVERY day praying for the best and least invasive treatment as possible!!! I hope your trip to New York’s Chiari Institute is very encouraging as well as helpful. You have so much on your plate; I know God only “gives us only as much as we can handle” but, CRAP! The Good Lord REALLY, REALLY believes in YOU!!!:)
It will get better sheerly because it HAS too. When you hit rock bottom it’s only blue skies and upward from there!! I hope you’re able to take pleasure in the small things in life like; the flowers in your yard, the sun on a warm day, or the a fore mentioned spoon you carry in your pocket!!!! That’s the way I get through it; one minute, one hour, one day at a time.
Someone once told me that WE are “long distance runners so, sometimes we have to cheat and “ride the bus” for a few miles!!!! Then “get off the bus” and keep on going.
    Miss you lots and lots,
    Cristina

Please take really good care of your daughter but DON’T leave youself out!!!
